The expression came from the idea that the <a href=\"http:\/\/pokercoaching.com\/blog\/poker-terms\/pot\/\" title=\"Pot Definition \u2013 Learn What Is a Pot in Poker\">pots<\/a> are so big on these stakes that losing one of them can cause your nose to start bleeding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although there is no specific definition of nosebleeds, any game with a six-figure <a href=\"http:\/\/pokercoaching.com\/blog\/poker-terms\/buy-in\/\" title=\"Buy-in Definition \u2013 Learn What A Buy-in Is In Poker\">buy-in<\/a> usually qualifies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In your average nosebleeds game, it\u2019s not uncommon to see people winning and losing several hundred thousand, and pots get into seven figures.
