Just because you miss the flop with ace-king doesn&#8217;t mean you just give up, <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/FF07LfT3Kgk\" class=\"ek-link\">make the proper adjustments<\/a> and remember the fundamentals to help guide you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scenario: <strong>You are eight-handed, playing in a $5,000 buy-in online tournament. You are the biggest stack at the table holding roughly 100,000 in chips&nbsp;with blinds of 700-1,400, with the next largest stack having 75,000. It folds around to you in the cutoff and you look down at A\u2663-K\u2663.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized is-style-default\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pokercoaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Poker-Blog-Board-Graphic_Playing-A-Poker-Hand-When-You-Miss-The-Flop.png\" alt=\"Preflop analysis.\" class=\"wp-image-2228551\" style=\"width:483px;height:386px\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preflop Analysis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously you should never fold, and calling invites problems. While you will definitely raise in this spot, 2,800 is the preferred amount because a min-raise has a higher likelihood of attracting out-of-position callers that you have crushed. A raise of 3,200 is also fine <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7-1zWOfRbJc\" class=\"ek-link\">as long as you know that the larger bet<\/a> will still attract callers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Action: <strong>You make the min-raise to 2,800 and it folds to the big blind who calls. The flop comes down 5<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2666<\/mark>-3<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2665<\/mark>-2<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2665<\/mark>, and the big blind checks to you.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Flop Analysis<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Pot:<\/strong>&nbsp;5,600<br><strong>The Board:<\/strong>&nbsp;5<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2666<\/mark>-3<strong><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2665<\/mark><\/strong><\/strong>-2<strong><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2665<\/mark><\/strong><\/strong><br><strong>Effective Stack:<\/strong>&nbsp;69 Big Blinds Effective<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Playing A Poker Hand When You Whiff The Flop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This flop completely misses your range, and while you may still be ahead, you must recognize how disastrous getting check-raised would be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When trying to find marginal <a href=\"https:\/\/pokercoaching.com\/blog\/poker-hands\/\" title=\"\">hands<\/a> to check, ask yourself, \u2018If I bet this hand and get raised, is it terrible?\u2019 In this spot it is because you have a reasonable draw with your gutshot and overcards <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/5eQ2k4SJOCo\">which has decent equity<\/a>, but plays poorly if raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you did decide on a bet, it should at least be for a small amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Action: <strong>You check behind on the flop and the turn is the 7<strong><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#ff0000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u2665<\/mark><\/strong><\/strong>.
