The $2500. Buy-in tournament held on Wednesday, July the 2nd 2008 had a respectable field of 288 players. Ted a Houston business man finished in 2nd place.
Remember his name because I'm sure you will be hearing it again in the winner’s circle.
Prior to our training session Ted and I became acquainted while playing in a satellite together. I quickly realized that
Ted’s table image was presented as one who is a seasoned player. His actions and decision making were delivered in such a
way that exudes respect. I was surprised to learn that he only recently had started to play, but was passionate in his
quest to become a competitive successful player. I also recognized that ted possessed a natural demeanor of confidence
that indicated a willingness to absorb new concepts.
Ten minutes into my training session with Ted, I knew that he was a quick study and through my training I would be able to
organize his thought process, answer his questions, and help him to create a game plan that was both reasonable, and
workable. Ted personifies the word dedication, and I knew that in the near future he was going to become a player
destined to win. I was in the audience to watch Ted’s play at the final table. He was calm, and collected. My instincts
lead me to believe that I was coaching a player, capable of winning many future events.
What I didn’t know is that Ted would get up the next day and enter the main event at the World Series. Ted’s solid play from the day before carried over and he managed to accumulate over 69,000 in chip count placing him in the top 15% bracket by day’s end.
Way to go Ted!
