Showdown Definition – Learn What Is a Showdown in Poker

A showdown is the final stage in a poker hand when all players still involved in a pot will turn over their hands, and the one showing the strongest wins the pot.

Not all poker hands go to a showdown, as players can also win by making a bet that causes all other players to fold, winning the pot automatically and without the need to reveal their hand.

However, when two or more players remain after the final round of betting, the showdown is used to determine the winner. At this stage, the cards “speak,” and the player who turns up with the strongest combination wins.
