Nosebleeds Definition – Learn What Are Nosebleeds in Poker

In the poker vocabulary, the term nosebleeds is used to describe the highest of the high-stakes games. The expression came from the idea that the pots are so big on these stakes that losing one of them can cause your nose to start bleeding.

Although there is no specific definition of nosebleeds, any game with a six-figure buy-in usually qualifies.

In your average nosebleeds game, it’s not uncommon to see people winning and losing several hundred thousand, and pots get into seven figures. In some of the craziest nosebleeds out there, players even buy-in for a million or more.
