Best Online Poker Sites for US Players in 2026
These are the rooms I’d recommend if you live in the US and your state doesn’t have licensed poker. Your best option is to use sweepstakes poker sites, but if you choose an offshore operator, stick with ones you can trust.
If you’re in one of the six regulated states, skip down to the legal section. Your licensed rooms are the safest choice.
ClubWPT Gold
ClubWPT Gold is where I play most of my online poker, and it’s the room I recommend to US players who want to stay on the right side of the law. It’s a sweepstakes site that’s open in 41 states, including New York.
Here’s how it works. You buy Hand Analysis Credits, each package comes with free Chips, and you can redeem Chips for cash at $1 each. The credits also unlock a hand grading tool, which is great for newer players.
The fields are some of the softest I’ve seen online, because most people come for the WPT brand rather than to grind. There’s no standard welcome bonus, but code PC links your account to our community promos and events.

CoinPoker
CoinPoker is one of the two rooms I play on most, and it’s where I send students who want soft cash games and fast cashouts. In my sessions this year, the softest tables were at $0.25/$0.50 and below, with plenty of players seeing far too many flops.
You can deposit with crypto, cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay. My team’s USDT withdrawals landed within minutes every time we tested them.

Through our link you also get 3.5% rakeback, which is rare for a sweeps site. There’s an iOS app, and Android players use the browser.

Best Online Poker Sites Outside the US
If you play from outside the US, these four rooms belong at the top of your list. None of them accept US players. WPT Global and BCPoker don’t take UK players either, and both skip several other countries, so check each room’s country list before you sign up.

GGPoker
GGPoker has the biggest tournament schedule in online poker. If you play MTTs outside the US, it should be your first stop.
Its Ocean Rewards program pays 16% to 80% back across eight tiers. When you deposit, you pick either $100 in free tickets and Poker Dollars or a 100% match up to $600.

WPT Global
WPT Global is the World Poker Tour’s real-money room for players outside the US. The WPT brand pulls in a lot of recreational players, which makes it a good pick for tournaments.
The welcome offer gives back 100% of your deposit up to $3,000, plus up to $248 in tickets and $100 in Casino Coin, over 60 days. Half unlocks through poker rake and half through casino play, so poker-only players should expect to clear about half of it.

888poker
888poker is smaller and softer, and it’s where I’d start if you’re new. You get $8 in free tournament tickets just for signing up, then 100% up to $1,000 on your first deposit.

BCPoker
BCPoker is a crypto room with some of the softest low-stakes games we’ve tested. It doesn’t accept US players, but it’s a great pick almost everywhere else. We ran an exclusive PokerCoaching freeroll there in August, and the field backed that up.

After evaluating all the data and reviewing online poker sites across multiple aspects, we arrive at a final score and a comprehensive list of pros and cons for each particular room. We actually monitor how many players are limping across different stakes, how long it takes to get the games going, and other soft metrics you rarely find evaluated.
On ClubWPT Gold and CoinPoker, where I play most of my own poker, I see these numbers every week, and my team repeats this test every month for other sites. The date under the comparison table shows when we last checked, so you always know the information is up to date.
We will not list sites with recurring issues or ongoing player complaints. Not all poker sites are equally good or even fair, so we recommend choosing from those our team of real poker players has tested.

Online Poker in the US
Whether online poker is legal depends on your state, not federal law. In practice, you’ve got three options.
Regulated states
Six states have licensed real-money online poker. If you live in one of them, you can play on regulated rooms like BetMGM, WSOP.com, PokerStars, and BetRivers.
All six states now share player pools through the multi-state agreement, so the games are bigger than they used to be. Which states a room connects depends on the operator.
Sweepstakes poker
Big states like Texas and Florida haven’t regulated online poker, so sweepstakes sites like ClubWPT Gold and Stake.us are the best legal option there. New York and California have tightened their sweepstakes rules, so check each site’s state list before you sign up.
Each site has its own list of restricted states, so check yours first. For most of my US students outside the regulated states, this is where I tell them to start. Our sweepstakes poker guide has the details.
Offshore rooms
Offshore crypto rooms like CoinPoker accept US players, but no US state licenses them. In our tests, these sites do offer very soft games and fast cashouts.

Which Online Poker Site Is Right for You?
When a student asks me where to play, my first question is always the same. What stakes and what format? A $2 tournament player and a $1/$2 cash player shouldn’t be on the same site. Here’s how I’d match you.
You’re new and in the US
Start on ClubWPT Gold. It’s legal in 41 states, the games are soft, and the hand grading tool helps you learn as you play. Once you’ve built a bankroll and you’re comfortable with crypto, try CoinPoker.
You play small-stakes cash
If you’re in the US, CoinPoker is my pick at $0.25/$0.50 and below. Outside the US, BCPoker is just as soft. In our tests, both had more recreational players per table than any regulated room.
You play tournaments
In the US, ClubWPT Gold and CoinPoker run the best schedules. Outside the US, go with GGPoker for volume or WPT Global for softer fields.
Rakeback is your priority
Outside the US, GGPoker’s Ocean Rewards tops out at 80% and BCPoker’s VIP program at 50%. In the US, CoinPoker’s 3-Bet Club returns 10% to 15%, and Stake.us pays 3.5% through our link. Just remember what I tell students. 30% rakeback in a game full of regulars is worth less than no deal at all in a game full of recreational players.
You cash out often
Crypto poker sites are the quickest. CoinPoker and BCPoker paid us within minutes in every test this year. Sweepstakes redemptions take a few days by design.
You play on your phone
GGPoker has full apps on iOS and Android. ClubWPT Gold has desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and you can play on your phone in the browser. CoinPoker has an Android app, and on iPhone you can install it from CoinPoker’s own site or play in the browser.

Why Should You Play Poker Online?
For as long as poker has existed online, there’s been a debate about whether playing online is better than playing live or the other way around. We can’t give you a definitive answer, as it’s not straightforward, but we can provide some reasons to play poker online.
Faster play and more hands
The biggest advantage of playing online poker is the speed of play. At most poker sites, you can load up as many tables as you can handle (there are some limits, but these aren’t relevant for most players), and you get to see three times as many hands per table compared to live games.
This means that you’ll gain much more experience playing online and reach your true win rate much faster. If the speed of play and number of hands are important to you, online poker is an easy choice.
Various games in one place
The best poker sites offer a vast array of games and variations in one place. At any given moment, you’ll find a bunch of cash game tables and tournaments running, and at the very least, there will be a choice between Hold’em and PLO. Some sites also offer mixed games.
Even the best live poker rooms typically have a dozen cash game tables running at any given moment, along with one or two tournaments. Online, you always have a bunch of options to choose from, including some that you’ll almost never (or very rarely) find in a live setting.
Better learning environment
If you’re looking to learn poker and improve your game, you’ll achieve much better and quicker progress playing online. The first reason we’ve already discussed: you can play more hands per hour online, gaining more experience in the same time spent at the tables.
However, this is just a small part of it. Online, you’ll also have the ability to go back to all the hands you played, analyze them, find and fix your own mistakes, and learn about your opponent’s tendencies. You’ll also have full access to all sorts of stats and numbers at the click of a mouse to help you recognize any areas where you might be lacking.
Lower stakes & freerolls
Online poker offers the opportunity to play for real money at extremely low stakes, and there are even freeroll tournaments that you can enter for free, allowing you to compete for cash prizes. This means that you can start with a very small bankroll, or even without a bankroll, and slowly build toward bigger stakes while also improving as a player.
Compared to online, even the cheapest games you’ll find live are expensive. Typically, the lowest cash games are $1/$2, and the most affordable tournaments cost around $100 to enter. Online, you can play cash games where you can buy in for as little as $1, and there are tournaments with buy-ins as low as $0.10.
Better bonuses and promotions
Various bonuses and promotions offered by online poker sites can be a big help in building your bankroll and moving up the stakes. From welcome bonuses to reload offers, rakeback, and leaderboards, these can add up to a significant amount.
In this particular segment, online poker surpasses even the best live poker rooms. If you put in a lot of hours, you’ll get much more extra value from an online poker site simply because live venues have too many expenses and can’t afford to be nearly as generous with their promos.
More flexibility
Online poker gives you the ultimate flexibility to play whenever you feel like it, without having to leave your home or plan your schedule around the poker room’s timeline. You can fire up a session when you feel like it and stop when you’ve had enough without any judgment from other players.
Most people don’t live near a poker room, so getting ready and traveling to and from one can take a lot of time. With online poker, a game is always seconds away.
Should You Play Poker For Real Money?
Poker can be a lot of fun, but only when you do things right. If you’re wondering if you should play online poker for real money, the answer is yes, as long as you enjoy it and do it responsibly.
For someone new to the game, online poker is the best choice to get started because you can find many small-stakes games where you won’t have to risk a lot of money. Put in $10 or $20, take advantage of any bonuses available to you, and jump into some micro-stakes cash games or super-cheap tournaments.
This will give you the experience of playing poker for real money with very little risk. You can take things as slowly as you want, learn the ropes, and gradually move up the stakes, or even try sweepstakes poker sites.
