What Changed for Sweepstakes Poker in Mississippi
Mississippi’s regulator moved against sweepstakes sites in 2025, and lawmakers have tried twice to ban them outright.
- March 2026. SB 2104, a sweepstakes ban with felony penalties for operators and promoters, died in the House Gaming Committee at the March 3 deadline. It had passed the Senate 52 to 0 in February. - August 2025. VGW, which runs Global Poker, Chumba Casino and LuckyLand, ended play in Mississippi on August 14 and closed redemptions on September 4. Source, CasinoBeats, July 30, 2025

Mississippi’s position is that casino-style gaming is only legal inside a licensed casino. The commission treats online sweepstakes games as unlicensed gambling under that rule.
There’s no sweepstakes law on the books, though. ClubWPT Gold and Stake.us weren’t named in the 2025 orders, and they still accept Mississippi under their own terms.
The Senate passed a ban unanimously in 2026. If one gets through the House in 2027, the rooms on this page would likely have to leave. If you use one that announces an exit, log in and check its redemption page.
Can I Play PokerStars, WSOP or GGPoker in Mississippi?
No. PokerStars, WSOP Online and BetMGM Poker only run in states that license online poker, and Mississippi isn’t one of them. GGPoker doesn’t accept US players at all.

Not soon. Lawmakers couldn’t even pass mobile sports betting in 2026. HB 1581 cleared the House and then died in the Senate.
Sports betting is legal, but only in person at the casinos. We couldn’t find an online poker bill, and the Senate’s focus has been on banning sweepstakes sites rather than licensing anything new.
