In poker, to suck out means to win in a hand where you were a big mathematical underdog when a majority of chips went into the pot.
For example, you could say I flopped a set, and we got all the chips in the middle on the flop. My opponent turned over a gutshot straight draw, and I was looking good to win a huge pot, but he then hit a five on the river to make his straight and suck out on me.
Naturally, poker players don’t like when they are a “victim” of a suck-out and receive a bad beat, but this is also a part of Texas Hold’em, as all players suck out on their opponents every now and again.
