2 Bet Definition – Learn What Is a 2-Bet in Poker

In poker, a 2-bet is a term used to describe the very first raise before the flop or when a player raises the first bet made after the flop.

For example, when action folds to the button before the flop, and they make a raise attacking the blinds, their action is a 2-bet.

Unlike many other poker terms, the expression 2-bet is not used all that often. More frequently, this type of action is referred to simply as a raise, as it is always the first raise of the original bet (or the blinds when talking about preflop action).
