All-In Definition – Learn What Is an All-In in Poker

The poker term all-in describes an action by which the player announcing the all-in wagers their entire stack. This poker action can be announced verbally by moving the one’s entire stack forward in one motion or using a specifically designed “all in” marker.

In any case, once an all-in is announced, the player has committed their entire stack to the pot and has no further action in the hand. This action cannot be taken back once it is officially recognized.

For live games, it is common to announce the all-in verbally, also known as jamming or shoving. When doing so, you should do it loud and clear to avoid any confusion. For the same reason, you should avoid uttering these two words together while involved in a hand unless you intend to go all in.
