Multiway Definition – Learn What Is Multiway in Poker

The term multiway in poker refers to pots that have more than two players after the flop. Any hand with three or more players to the flop is a multiway pot, also known as a family pot.

At lower stakes, multiway pots are quite common, and they can be tricky to play, as strategy changes quite significantly when you’re up against more than one opponent.

For this reason, experienced players always try their best to thin the field and get hands heads-up as soon as possible, as this is where you’ll have the biggest edge.
