Shootout Definition – Learn What Is a Shootout in Poker

A poker shootout is a multi-table tournament in which every table is played like a sit-and-go. Every table plays down to the winner, after which all winners come together to form new tables.

This continues until just one table remains. This is the final table, and the tournament then plays down to its final winner.

For example, a tournament with 1,000 players will start with 100 tables of 10 players. After the first round, 100 winners will form ten new tables of 10 players.

Once the second round finishes, there will be only ten players, who will then come together to play the last, final table to determine the overall winner.
