The term cutoff in poker refers to the poker position that’s to the right of the button. It is the second-best position after the button, as the player in the cutoff has a positional advantage over the players that act before them.
For example, when you’re seated in the cutoff position, you can play many more poker hands compared to earlier seats since you have fewer players behind you. If the player on the button is passive, you can raise aggressively and force them to fold, simultaneously obtaining an advantage over both small blind and big blind.
