Odds Definition – Learn What Odds Are In Poker

Odds in poker represent the likelihood of a specific result occurring in any given situation.

Knowing the odds of hitting your hand can help you make math-based decisions by comparing them to the bet size you are facing. This is a fundamental skill in poker that every player should learn.

For example, if you have a flush draw on the flop, you have 9 outs. The odds of you hitting the flush on the turn is around 19%, and around 35% to hit it by the river. However, if you only have one overcard on the Turn and need to hit it to win the hand instead of 9, as you have with a flush draw, now you only have 3, and your odds of winning the hand decrease to around 6%.
