In poker vocabulary, the term dealer can have two distinct meanings. More often, it is used to describe a particular position at the table, also referred to as the button, but sometimes it is also used to refer to the actual person dealing the cards.
When referring to a position, the dealer detonates the player who acts last after the flop. This is the best possible and most advantageous position in Texas Hold’em. The term “button” is also used to describe this position because a small disk or button is usually placed in front of the dealer to clearly mark the position.
Of course, the term dealer can also refer to the actual person dealing the cards. For example, you could say: I had no luck with the dealer last night – I missed all my draws. In this instance, it is clear that your complaint is about the person handling the cards, not the position.
