Position Definition – Learn What Is a Position in Poker

In poker, the term position refers to the player’s position at the table in relation to the dealer button and the blinds.

There are generally four position groups in Texas Hold’em: early, middle, and late position, and the blinds.

The first players to act before the flop are in the early position, followed by the middle position. The player on the button and a couple of players to act before them are in the late position.
